Follow Our Journey
Founding
We started Tie Towel in September of 2024 in a coffee shop! The idea came from our CEO when he noticed fellow students were afraid of changing after P.E because towels would be pulled down. This gave us the brilliant idea of a towel that would actually stay put.
September 2024
First Prototype
We made our first prototype out of an old rag, recycled drawstring from our schools art room and some yarn! It wasn't pretty but it worked and it gave us lots of belief about Tie Towel.
October 2024
Making Progress
Tie Towel really started to kick off. We started producing towels like mad and even got our first major sales. We also got our first website up and running which put us in a great position.
November 2024
Innovation Award
On December 12th we competed in the Student Enterprise Programme Competitions Christmas Fair where we picked up the Best Innovation Award. The Team were buzzing after it and we still look back at it as one of our major achievements.
December 2024
Scaling Begins
Our New Years Resolution was to scale Tie Towel, and fast. We introduced 7 new colours, found the best drawstring, optimised our social media and much more! We were on a roll.
January 2025
Sales and Strategy
February was full of stress but also success. We ended up making nearly €1000 in just door-to-door sales, secured an amazing partnership with the Bishopstown Credit Union and Michael also prevented the website from crashing! Add all this along with broken sewing machines it turned into a very long month.

the BIG Win
On March 11th, we competed in the Student Enterprise Programme Competitions Cork City Finals. We were absolutely thrilled to have been awarded the Best Overall Enterprise and also the Best Sales Award. As part of this award we received an all expenses paid trip and scholarship to the Global Business Academy in Colorado State University. This is exactly what we had been fighting for and it was our biggest achievement.
March 2025
A Month of Progress
April was busy as ever(if not even busier) at Tie Towel. We were attending events like mad, selling every chance we got and team moral was at an all time high.
April 2025
The Even BIGGER Win
On May 8th we competed in the National Finals of the Student Enterprise Programme in Mullingar. We competed against 32 of the top enterprise from all around the country. We're delighted to say we were awarded with the 3rd Best Student Enterprise! It's Cork City's first time reaching the podium in the 23 years the SEP has been operating. We're amazed that out of 30,000 students competing in the programme this year, we were one of the best.
